Churches welcome victims
Physical thirst is quenched; spiritual thirst addressed

Inside Istrouma Baptist Church on Sunday a praise band led worshippers in the song, "Lord I Lift Your Name On High."

Outside, children tossed basketballs at portable goals set up between the sanctuary and the children's education building that now houses 600-plus Hurricane Katrina evacuees.

People across Baton Rouge as usual went to church, but it wasn't church as usual in most places.

Members of some congregations dressed down in hopes of making guests from New Orleans and surrounding areas more comfortable.
