ECUSA in Arkansas Standing Ready to Bless Same Sex Unions
From the Arkansas Democrat
Congregation backs blessing of gay couples
BY CHRISTIE STORMARKANSAS DEMOCRAT-GAZETTE

St. PaulĀ¹s Episcopal Church in Fayetteville recently became the first congregation of its denomination in Arkansas to support a rite of blessing for gay couples.

However, any ceremonies must wait until at least next summer, pending action by national church leadership.

The Sept. 19 decision by the Fayetteville church came after years of discussion and four weeks of small group meetings of its parishioners and church leaders. They overwhelmingly supported the resolution.
Although St. Paul's is the first of the state's 55 churches in the Episcopal Church USA to approve a rite of blessing for same-sex couples, it is not the first congregation in the state to consider holding such ceremonies. Congregations of the Unitarian Universalist Church in Fayetteville and Little Rock have offered commitment ceremonies for same-sex couples.
