Christian delegation meets with Indian president
Catholic bishops called on President Pratibha Patil - India's first woman president - to draw attention to wanton destruction of Christian homes and places of worship. They provided a list of churches and other property destroyed by Hindu nationalists.

CBCI delegation led by the Secretary General Archbishop Stanislaus Fernandes called on President Mrs. Pratibha Patil on Friday, Jan. 11 and sought her “kind intervention in Orissa to protect the fundamental rights of Christians to practice their faith without fear”.

The delegation included Archbishop of Delhi Vincent Concessao, Archbishop of Cuttack-Bhubaneshwar Raphael Cheenath, Bishop of Behrampur Sarat Chandra Nayak and others.
