ABC's Spokesman Still Does Not Get It!

A senior adviser to the Archbishop of Canterbury has warned Anglicans that they risk the destruction of their Church if they insist on making homosexuality a “shibboleth”.

Canon Gregory Cameron, the most senior expert in religious law helping to run the headquarters of the worldwide Anglican Communion, drew parallels from scripture to present a stark choice between unity and “internecine warfare”.

In a lecture in the diocese of St Asaph, Wales, he said: “The challenge of the life of the Communion is such at the moment that if we cannot express the ties that hold us together, then we are condemned to a far more serious fate.” the rest

This is a clear demonstration of how clueless the Archbishop of Canterbury is over the crisis in the Church. It has been five years since GC 2003 and this guy's spokesman still seems to think that the issue is sex, when in reality the issue is the willingness of much of the western church to rewrite scripture to conform with cultural norms under the thin pretext of Biblical interpretation. No wonder the ABC cannot lead the Communion if at this late stage he still does not know what this dispute is all about. -Raymond Dague
