Bishop warns dissenting Anglicans they won’t take property with them

The Anglican Bishop of Southwark, in south London, has warned traditionalist Anglicans that if they convert to Roman Catholicism they won’t be able to take church properties with them.

Giving his Presidential Address to his Diocesan Synod last weekend, the Rt Rev Tom Butler admitted that the Vatican’s offer ‘had put the cat among the pigeons.’

But he went on to say: “What matters in Southwark is that we seek to maintain the excellent relationships which we have with our Roman Catholic friends at every level of church life, Diocesan, Area, Deanery and Parish.” the rest
