OTTAWA — A convicted child molester was arrested Wednesday in Ottawa and transferred to Kingston to face a new charge of a sex crime, Kingston police said.

John Gallienne, 65, has been charged with indecent assault related to abuses alleged to have happened three decades ago, police said.

The complainant brought the complaint to Kingston police alleging the abuses took place when he was a young boy between 1980 and 1982.

A former choirmaster at St. George’s Anglican Cathedral in Kingston, Gallienne pleaded guilty in 1990 to 20 sex crimes against 13 young choirboys from the church. He was released from prison in 1994 after serving four years of a six-year sentence. the rest
