Economy: Blue States Worse Than Red Under Obama

President Obama entered the national spotlight with a rousing 2004 Democratic convention speech that talked about how it was wrong "to slice-and-dice our country into red states and blue states." Last week he reiterated the point in a tweet to his followers, saying that "there are no red states or blue states, just the United States."

But when it comes to the economic recovery, there has been a clear difference. It turns out, in fact, that blue states have done worse economically than have red states under Obama, according to an IBD analysis of various government economic data.

IBD compared average job growth, unemployment, changes in housing prices, per capita income and GDP growth and gas prices for the 22 states that voted for John McCain in 2008 and the 28 states that voted for Obama .

...The overwhelming majority of Americans do not understand that Obama's first term was dedicated to putting in place executive power to enable him and the administration to fulfill the campaign promise of "transforming America" in his second term regardless of which political party controls Congress. That is why his re-election team is virtually ignoring the plight of incumbent or prospective Democratic Party office holders.

The most significant accomplishment of Obama's first term is to make Congress irrelevant. Under the myopic and blindly loyal leadership of Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi, the Democrats have succeeded in creating an imperial and, in a second term, a potential dictatorial presidency.
