Police Officer Killed in Colorado Shooting was Also a Pastor; Climate Change Summit Farce ...more

Everything we know about the Planned Parenthood shooter Planned Parenthood, and supporters of abortion rights, have pointed to Friday's shooting at a Planned Parenthood facility as evidence that the pro-life movement is responsible for encouraging violence through its "hateful rhetoric." Planned Parenthood of Rocky Mountains has declared that the shooter himself "was motivated by opposition to Planned Parenthood and access to abortion," although police have not officially released any information about his motives.

Meanwhile, the picture emerging of the man who allegedly opened fire at a Planned Parenthood facility Friday is one of a deeply disturbed recluse who, though opposed to abortion, had little interest in and no known history of active involvement in the abortion debate, with a long spate of run-ins with the law and a pattern of bizarre behavior that left some of those who encountered him fearful for their safety, and many convinced that he wasn't in his right mind...

Universities 'Dominated By Left-Wing Hate Mobs' Says Professor   University students and teachers are becoming increasingly ‘hard-line’ and intolerant, shouting down anyone who does not conform to their world view, a British professor has said.

Antony Glees, an expert in counter-terrorism who teaches at the University of Buckingham, said that left-wing staff and students have become more militant over the past 10 years, with chilling effects on free speech.

Professor Glees said he was heckled at recent panel discussion on the government’s “Prevent” anti-terror strategy after he spoke up in favour of the scheme. He said there was a “feeling of menace” after was “cynically jeered at” and branded a racist by students and even other lecturers...

Anne Kennedy: The Brave Naked Selfie I’m not particularly up to date on pop culture/entertainment news. I only know the little that can be gleaned from ten minutes of evening internet scrolling and then coffee hour conversations percolating here and there. Well, and my Tuesday Tea Time for which I try to be up to date on YouTube clips. In the old days my Tuesday Tea Time and I would have talked knowingly about books, but now it’s all Adele and and, well, leave me alone, we are both busy people and are totally going to start reading books tomorrow.

So apparently, some lady I’ve never heard of took her clothes off and had a picture taken in only her undies, holding a cup of coffee. I glanced at Twitter long enough to discover that she is #brave a la #lenadunham #courageousness brave. I had to go away because the pictures and the hashtags got weirder and uglier as I scrolled down....

Sheldon Silver’s conviction Monday in one of New York’s highest-profile public-corruption cases in decades could signal a shift in the business of Albany and spark further investigations of a capital with a long-standing reputation for questionable conduct.

The Democratic speaker of the state Assembly for more than 20 years, Mr. Silver was found guilty by a 12-person federal jury in Manhattan of four counts of honest-services fraud, two counts of extortion and one count of money laundering.

At the heart of the case was the question of whether procedures and conduct that are commonplace to Albany are, in fact, a violation of the law, or whether they are simply the perhaps objectionable but also unavoidable consequence of having a part-time Legislature...

The Farce of the Paris Climate Change Summit ...It is a curious situation that the richest, most energy consuming nations on Earth seek to reach an agreement that would stop poorer developing nations from experiencing the rapid and sustained growth that history shows energy provides for people and their economies. While such an agreement would concentrate more power in the hands of national leaders and the companies and businesses they favor, it would undeniably hurt the poorest people in the world, and in the case of the United States, hurt the poorest among us. Paris is for the elites, who seem to want to have nothing to do with the working men and women of the world who aspire for a better future for their children.
