Report: Abortion Clinics Offer Women Grisly, Unsanitary Facilities; Only 4 Obamacare exchanges remain open..more

Lie of the Year: Abortion Clinics Are Safe ...Unsafe: How the Public Health Crisis in America’s Abortion Clinics Endangers Women, a new investigative report released this week by Americans United for Life, convincingly demonstrates that the Supreme Court’s claim that abortion clinics are “safe” qualifies as the lie of the year. The report documents that in Texas alone, at least 17 abortion providers have recently been cited by state officials for violations of health and safety standards, including, ironically, five clinics operated by Whole Woman’s Health, the lead plaintiff in the Supreme Court case.

Evidence collected from 32 states on hundreds of abortion clinics and dozens of individual abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood facilities, proves that the practice of abortion has devolved into the “red light district” of American medicine and is populated by substandard providers. Unsafe is both a snapshot in time, focusing on abortion practice since 2008, and the tip of the proverbial iceberg, aptly demonstrating a nationwide pattern of abuse that characterizes an industry fighting to keep profits high and standards low....

Report: Abortion Clinics Offer Women Grisly, Unsanitary Facilities ...Shockingly, at least 65 of the abortion providers examined were chronic offenders who had been cited multiple times for the same violations in subsequent years. Further, at least 13 abortion providers either failed to report suspected sexual abuse of a minor or failed to implement practices to protect minors from ongoing sexual abuse. At least 30 abortion providers failed to provide or post all required informed consent information, and more than two dozen abortion clinics failed to comply with abortion reporting requirements. While these numbers are appalling, it is important to note that this is simply the tip of the iceberg, as in some states it is difficult or impossible to obtain information regarding abortion clinics and individual providers...

Repealing Itself? Only Four of 24 Obamacare Exchanges Remain Open Only four of the original 24 Obamacare health co-ops remain standing after Maryland’s co-op announced Dec. 8 it was suspending the sale of individual health insurance policies, the Daily Caller News Foundation Investigative Group has found.

With the near-collapse of Maryland’s co-op — called Evergreen Health — at least 989,000 individuals nationwide have lost their health insurance coverage when the nonprofit co-ops stopped selling insurance to customers, according to TheDCNF’s tally.

The losses cost taxpayers at least $2.2 billion in upfront federal loans awarded by the Obama administration to 24 nonprofit co-ops under Obamacare. The co-ops were intended to help keep health care costs down by providing non-profit competition with commercial for-profit insurers.
The losses do not include statewide costs where the state or local governments were forced to cover doctor and hospital bills that the failed co-ops could not pay from remaining revenues.

In many cases, those losses were substantial. In New York alone, state taxpayers face at least $200 million in costs owed to medical providers that the bankrupt Health Republic co-op could not cover, according to the Albany Business Review...

NYC offering workers therapy to cope with Trump-induced stress New York City is offering its municipal workforce counseling services and other support for dealing with election-year stress brought on by Donald Trump’s election.

In a Dec. 1 email, the de Blasio administration pointed to mental health resources that are available to workers who are “feeling distressed or vulnerable following the election results.”

“We have seen the concerns expressed on social media and we are monitoring them closely,” the emails reads...

Syphilis could become impossible to treat
Syphilis could become impossible to treat with key antibiotics, doctors warn amid concerns over a new drug-resistant strain.

Once a death sentence, the vast majority of syphilis cases today are curable with penicillin injections.

However, a new study reveals an aggressive new strain of the infection is more widespread than previously thought - and there are limited ways to control it....
